PeakHour can't discover your router (Local Network access blocked)

PeakHour discovers your router and other devices by communicating on your local network. On macOS, apps need Local Network permission to do this. If that permission is turned off, PeakHour can’t see your router, and you may see a “Local Network Access Required” alert:

PeakHour can’t discover your router because macOS has blocked Local Network access.

This most commonly happens after reinstalling or updating PeakHour, or if the permission was declined the first time PeakHour asked for it.

  • The Router segment of the Internet Dashboard stays blank or can’t be detected.
  • Auto-discovery doesn’t find your router, access point, or other devices.
  • You see the “Local Network Access Required” alert when PeakHour launches.
  1. Open System Settings.

  2. Go to Privacy & Security → Local Network.

  3. Find PeakHour in the list and turn its switch on.

  4. Quit and relaunch PeakHour — the change only takes effect on a fresh launch.

If PeakHour doesn’t appear in the Local Network list, launch it and let it attempt a discovery (for example, open the Internet Dashboard or run through setup). macOS adds an app to the list the first time it requests local-network access. Then return to Privacy & Security → Local Network and enable it.

  • Double-check that you relaunched PeakHour after enabling the permission.
  • Make sure no firewall, VPN, or content filter is blocking traffic on your local network.
