UPnP

UPnP, or Universal Plug and Play (Wikipedia: UPnP), is a protocol designed to allow seamless discovery, configuration, monitoring and management of the various devices on your network.

PeakHour can use UPnP to monitor the traffic passing through your router (an Internet Gateway Device, in UPnP parlance).

Whilst UPnP does provide rudimentary monitoring, its primary use is for data sharing, communications and entertainment. For this reason, UPnP is more limited in terms of what information PeakHour is able to retrieve; for instance, UPnP only supports 32-bit counters, whereas some SNMP devices support 64-bit counters — important for monitoring Usage.
